INTRODUCTION

I give piano lessons both in-person (at my private studio in Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and/or online (Zoom/Skype). The lessons are taught in either Dutch or English and are suitable for both beginner and advanced students (up to +/- grade 8 ABRSM). A lesson plan depends on your preferences, goals and level, and may contain the following components:

• Music theory and ear training (reading sheet music, construction of chords, recognizing intervals and chords by ear, being able to play songs by ear, etc.)

• Technique (scales, arpeggios, phrasing, dynamics, fingerings, use of pedal, etc.)

• Harmony (progressions, alterations, voice leading, tonal and modal harmony, jazz harmony and voicings, modulation, etc.)

• Stylistic exploration (style and form through time periods in classical/jazz/pop/blues/etc.)

• Arranging (reharmonization techniques, music notation, transcriptions, etc.)

• Music production (working in Logic Pro, technical and creative aspects of mixing)

• Accompanying (vocalists and/or small and large ensembles, etc.)

• Improvisation (navigating chord progressions, melodic- and harmonic devices, licks, etc.)

RATES

Lessons are preferably on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and are approx. 40 minutes in length. For one lesson, I charge €28, or €23.14 for Dutch residents 20 years and under.
